exactly right about hiking being a no electronics zone. i hike all the time and when i run into people on the trail looking at their cell phones or mp3 players i just can't figure out why.

Running is definitely a different story since it isn't nearly as fun and you don't have the time to look around and drink in everything around you.

Yeah, that's my husband. Just his Blackberry, nothing else. But he once answered his Blackberry on the back of an elephant crossing a river. "Oh, can't talk now, I'm on the back of an elephant crossing a river." Classic. At least he didn't get into a conversation, or I'd have tossed the Blackberry into the river.
